Left-handed black Strat-style guitar with a red crown of thorns pickguard
My first custom build, about 15 years ago, with a crown of thorns pickguard.

Lefty, built lefty

Left-handed builds start left-handed. Controls, switching and tremolo laid out for the way a lefty plays.

Quote before work

No surprises. Every job gets a quote before I touch it, good for 30 days.

Built to your spec

Pickups, pots, switching and hardware picked for the tone you are chasing, not off a shelf.

Backed on new builds

New builds carry a 1-year warranty on parts.

Sample spec sheet

A Strat-style build on paper

Every build starts as a spec sheet like this one, written around how you play. This is an example, not a customer’s guitar.

Free tool

Find your tone, free

Pick a style of music and tell me about your guitar. The free Tone Configurator ranks pickups from Greenville, Seymour Duncan, DiMarzio, Bare Knuckle, Lollar, Lindy Fralin, Gibson and Fender, and suggests pots, caps, treble bleed and setup starting points. Free for everyone, with no sign-up and nothing locked.

How a repair works

  1. 1

Tell me what is going on

Use the quote form. Describe the problem, add a photo if you can, and tell me how you like the guitar to play.

  2. 2

    Get a quote

I look it over and send you a quote before any work starts. Quotes are good for 30 days.

  3. 3

Drop it off or ship it

Once you approve the quote, we set up a time for you to bring it to the shop in Dayton (by appointment only), or you ship it to me. You pay shipping and insurance both ways.

  4. 4

    Bench work

I do the work, then play it, check it and set it up so it leaves the shop ready to go.

  5. 5

Pick it up or get it back

I let you know when it is done. Pick it up by appointment, or I ship it back to you. Pay by PayPal, Venmo or cash.
